About the Winery

Philippe et Simon Tessier
26 hectares
Located in Cheverny at La Rue Colin, Domaine Philippe Tessier has embodied artisanal winemaking and terroir dedication since its creation in 1961 by Roger Tessier. Taken over by Philippe Tessier in the 1980s, the estate gained pioneer status across the central Loire by earning official organic certification as early as 1998. Today, the family tradition flourishes under the inspired direction of Simon and Marie Tessier, who oversee twenty-six hectares of prime, biologically active vineyards. Working silica-clay and limestone soils without herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or systemic products, the estate nurtures thriving cover crops and root depth, allowing the historic landscapes of Cheverny to speak with crystalline honesty across each new harvest.

Divine Loire Tasting Review

Domaine Philippe Tessier stands as an indisputable benchmark of consistency, integrity, and brilliance throughout the entire Loire Valley. With Simon and Marie continuing Philippe's pioneering organic work, the estate has attained extraordinary stylistic finesse, producing wines of remarkable vitality and textural charm. The white Cheverny Le Point du Jour thrills with its chiseled minerality, vibrant lemon zest, and electric salinity, making it a dream gastronomic pairing for goat cheeses, pan-fried freshwater fish, and fine seafood platters. Meanwhile, their Cour-Cheverny cuvées—such as the parcel Simon Tessier and the profound La Porte Dorée—demonstrate the sheer grandeur and longevity of the Romorantin grape, offering luxurious palate texture beautifully balanced by aristocratic freshness and notes of dried pear, beeswax, and white flowers. The red wines impress equally with their silky texture and succulent drinkability. A world-class estate of the highest order that deserves a dedicated place in every connoisseur cellar.

Featured Wines

Domaine Philippe Tessier produces an authentic and diverse portfolio of wines reflecting the unique personality of AOC Cheverny and AOC Cour-Cheverny. White blends harmonize Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Orbois, delivering refreshing citrus notes and crystalline tension, beautifully exemplified by the flinty parcel Le Point du Jour. The rare and historic Romorantin grape takes center stage in Cour-Cheverny, displaying remarkable textural depth, tactile richness, and alluring notes of dried pear, white flowers, and honeyed beeswax. Red and rosé wines, crafted from Pinot Noir, Gamay, Côt, and indigenous Pineau d’Aunis, enchant wine lovers with wild berry aromas, peppery nuances, and supple, velvety tannins that emphasize freshness and drinkability.
