Harvest quantity:

The 2023 vintage in Touraine stands out as a divine return to balance, embodying the classic fresh Loire style. While July rains and mildew pressure—especially for organic growers—kept everyone on their toes, a sunny, dry September brought optimal ripening, particularly benefiting the region’s flagship Sauvignon Blanc. The resulting dry whites are expressive, aromatic (think citrus, pear, white flowers), and well-structured with bright acidity and moderate alcohol—perfect for Loire river fish or a sunny terrace in Montlouis. Overall yields were above average, thanks to generous fruit set and favorable harvest conditions, despite some localized losses from rot. In the glass, the wines are charming, immediate, and show quality on par with other Loire stars like Sancerre and Vouvray.
