Savennières 2016

The 2016 vintage in Savennières is divine, a rare brilliance in a year marked by significant climatic challenges. The devastating frost on April 27, with temperatures plunging to -6 to -7 °C, severely affected the vines, particularly in the lower areas. Despite this, the late-season conditions – a dry, warm summer followed by sunny autumn days – allowed Chenin Blanc to achieve exceptional ripeness. Although yields were low, the wines produced show remarkable purity, with intense aromas and the signature mineral tension of the appellation. Compared to other Loire appellations producing dry white wines, such as Saumur or Touraine, Savennières stands out for its concentration and depth.
