The Saumur 2019 vintage is superb, offering wines of great quality, though the harvest was more modest in quantity. Indeed, significant climatic events such as the April 4th frost, flowering coulure, and persistent July drought impacted production, especially on the Chenin grape. These conditions led to a sharp decrease in volumes, estimated between -30 and -40% compared to a normal harvest. Despite this, the quality of the wines remained high. The Saumur whites of 2019 stand out for their beautiful freshness and great minerality, with fine aromas of white fruits and flowers. Compared to other Loire appellations producing dry whites, Saumur 2019 offers a beautiful depth and remarkable elegance, despite a more challenging year in terms of yield. This vintage deserves a rating of 4.25/5.
