The 2021 vintage of Quarts de Chaume can be described as divine, a true triumph over the climatic challenges of a grueling year. Spring frosts and summer rains posed significant difficulties for Loire winemakers, but late harvesting and a generous late season allowed for extraordinary potential alcohol levels of 19 to 21. While many Loire appellations specializing in off-dry and sweet wines struggled with reduced yields, Quarts de Chaume stood out for its exceptional quality. The harvested grapes, rare but marked by remarkable concentration and purity, produced sweet wines of exquisite finesse and dazzling aromatic complexity. Although quantitatively below average, the quality exceeded expectations, earning this vintage a score of 4.3/5, a genuine delight for wine enthusiasts.
