The 2020 vintage of Quarts de Chaume rightly earns its excellent rating of 4.1 out of 5. The year was marked by an unusual precocity, driven by a warm and sunny spring that fostered uniform flowering. However, heterogeneity between parcels became apparent throughout the season, underscoring challenges brought by the early September rain. This rainfall, followed by intense heat, contributed to rapid grape desiccation, ideal for concentration and noble rot development. Wines from this vintage boast stunning aromatic intensity, with exotic notes of mango and passion fruit. On the palate, their velvety and tender texture is elevated by a delicate freshness, making them particularly digestible. Compared to other Loire appellations producing sweet or off-dry wines, Quarts de Chaume 2020 stands out for its balance and finesse.
