Coteaux du Layon 2022

The 2022 vintage of Coteaux du Layon is a superb wine, marking a great success in the Anjou region, benefiting from favorable climatic conditions. The year was characterized by a dry spring followed by a hot summer, allowing for optimal grape ripening. This heat was well balanced by cool nights, preserving the acidity necessary for the wines’ freshness and balance. Compared to other Loire appellations producing demi-sec and sweet wines, Coteaux du Layon stands out for its finesse and elegance. The aromas of apricot, exotic fruits, and white flowers unfold with beautiful complexity while maintaining a nice freshness on the palate, ensuring harmony. Although the harvest was average in quantity, the quality of the wines stands out with consistency and balance. A rating of 4.3 out of 5 is deserved for this promising vintage.
