Superb vintage of Coteaux du Layon 2020, rated 4.3/5, marked by exceptional early ripeness and climatic heterogeneity. The year began with an ideal flowering under generous sunshine and mild temperatures around 19°C. The conditions created a particular complexity: a rainy episode in early September, followed by a strong heat wave, caused a unique grape desiccation. Harvests, very early, were spread from mid-September to early November, with most collected around October 20th. The soft-tender sweet wines display exceptional aromatic profiles, notably with notes of mango and passion fruit, with a velvety, slightly fresh mouth and great digestibility. Compared to other Loire Valley appellations producing semi-dry and sweet wines, this vintage stands out for its elegance and complexity.
