The 2023 vintage of Coteaux de l’Aubance is excellent, despite a challenging climatic year. Following a warm and humid spring that fostered mildew outbreaks, the summer and September brought high temperatures combined with persistent humidity, leading to acetic souring in some grapes. Harvesting required meticulous sorting to retain only healthy fruit. Thanks to this rigorous selection, the resulting wines are balanced, lighter and more vibrant than concentrated, aligning well with current preferences. Like other sweet wine appellations in the Loire such as Coteaux du Layon or Bonnezeaux, the 2023 vintage reflects a move away from richness in favor of freshness, finesse, and expressive fruit. Despite lower yields, the wines show remarkable aromatic clarity and solid aging potential, made possible by precise winemaking.
