Le Clos de l’Echo, qui appartient au Domaine Couly Dutheil, est situé au pied de la forteresse royale de Chinon. Il s’agit DU vignoble historique de l’appellation. Son nom vient de l’écho qui résonne sans cesse sur les murs de la forteresse. C’est probablement là que la première vigne chinonaise a été plantée. Le vignoble aurait peut-être même appartenu à la famille de François Rabelais. S’il ne fallait faire qu’une seule visite de cave à Chinon c’est donc celle du célèbre Clos de l’Echo du Domaine Couly Dutheil qui possède une cave moderne en pierre de tuffeau et d’impressionnantes caves du 10ème siècle situées sous la forteresse royale de Chinon. Attention, le Clos de L’Echo est situé à une adresse différente de l’adresse principale du domaine : Clos de L’écho Parking du Château, Avenue François Mitterrand, 37500 Chinon.
