Chateau Gaudrelle is the perfect winery for those who wish to visit a typical troglodyte cellar in the Vouvray region. Easy access with private parking available. The winery is located within 5 miles of the city center of Tours. A 10-minute drive. Most convenient.
The visit usually starts with the visit of the troglodyte cellars. It’s cool in there, between 12 and 14° celsius : ideal for cooling off in the summer period!
The wine tasting at Château Gaudrelle is professional, with a fairly wide choice of “cuvées” of white wines from the Vouvray appellation. The tasting begins with sparkling Vouvray wines before moving on to the typical dry whites. Chateau Gaudrelle “Turonien” is a very nice dry white Vouvray wine (typical of the appellation, a touch acidic, but on the palatable side). Its name derives from the geological name of the subsoil of the region. You may also be offered to taste Château Gaudrelle “Le Sec” (“The Dry”). This is the higher end Vouvray from Château Gaudrelle. It’s very different, rounder, fatter, more complex. It’s also a bit more expensive but still great value for money (less than 20 euros per bottle). The wine tasting at Château Gaudrelle will end with a selection of lightly to richly sweet white wines. Enjoy.
