A vineyard steeped in history. Founded in 990, the Abbaye de Bourgueil has always been intertwined with viticulture. The monks cultivated cabernet franc here long before Rabelais famously sang its praises. Today, Jérémy and Faustine Lorieux continue this legacy. Within the walled clos, the forty-year-old vines draw their character from a soil of gravel and flint, creating ideal conditions for grape maturation.
A cabernet franc at its peak. The 2020 vintage reveals itself in an intense purple hue, deep and radiant. On the nose, it’s a sensory explosion: blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry, interwoven with subtle spicy and oaky notes. The palate is powerful, defined by vibrant freshness and silky tannins. A rich, generous texture unfolds into a lingering, spice-infused finish.
A Bourgueil with true identity. Compared to others in the appellation, this one stands out for its bold structure and its balance of freshness and intensity. Still young, it is already remarkably drinkable, yet a few years of aging will further soften it, revealing deeper notes of ripe fruit and warm spices.
